Hype Williams - Music video director

Without a doubt, one of my favourite artists in music is the Mase. He has produced many great songs and some great music videos to go along with his music, but my favourite video involving Mase is the mega-hit "Mo Money Mo Problems" but the late Biggie Smalls. This was seen as a completely new style of hip hop music when it was released and Biggie Smalls, along with the help of P Diddy and Mase, used this song to show that he was a pioneer in an era where hip hop was tremendously popular. However, without the help of music video director Hype Williams, this song would only be a fraction as famous as the visuals for "Mo Money Mo Problems" made listening to the track thoroughly enjoyable.
William's previous work includes huge songs such as;
 Gettin jiggy with it
Woo Hah
No Scrubs
Gold Digger etc.
These are all tremendously famous songs created by the likes of Will Smith and Kanye west.  One thing about Williams is that there was no consistent theme throughout his music videos and every single one seem to be different and unique. I feel this was a credit to his creativity in that he could have so many different ideas for so many different styles of music and get along with so many different artists from different walks of life. Although Williams may not have had for creative control over the visuals of the music videos due to the profile of his clients, he had a large amount of input into each of them.
In 2006 Williams was honoured by MTV with its Vanguard award presented in honour of his achievements as a filmmaker.
The fact that he could work as a famous filmmaker as well as a music video director really shows the talent that he had, and to achieve so much in two completely different industries is a testament to his intelligence and once again his creativity.

As you can tell, it's not hard to see why he is my favourite music video director!
